One of the most important furniture in a small child's room is undoubtedly the crib. It is in him that the infant spends most of its time and should therefore be provided with the right conditions. Choosing a crib for a newborn is not easy and it is good to know what to look for before buying.
The most common sizes of baby cribs are those 120 × 60 cm, but you can also find those with 140 × 70 cm. Larger size means that it can be used for a child longer, even up to the age of about 7 years, if it has the function of transforming into a couch. Of course, the size of the crib also means that you need to match the right mattress. One with the other is inseparably connected. The mattress should be smooth and hard so that the child does not sag in it.
What crib material?
The most popular and most often chosen material is wood or plywood. However, what is most important here are the approvals of the crib, which confirm its safety for the health and life of the child. There should be no splinters or burrs, and the paint, if it is covered with a crib, should not peel, and it must be safe and ecological. After all, it is recommended that baby cribs be raw and unpainted.

What about the crib rungs?
Contrary to appearances, the topic of rungs is extremely important, because they are responsible for the child's safety. First of all, they should be rounded and free of any angular shapes. The distance between the rungs is also important here so that the toddler is not able to put the head between them or wedge other parts of the body. In some models, it is possible to remove the rungs so that the child can get out of the crib on their own when they are a little older.
What accessories for a baby crib?
In addition to the above-mentioned mattress, when buying a baby crib, you should also buy a lot of other useful accessories. It is definitely worth investing in a silicone cover on the edge of the railing, which will be useful especially when the baby starts teething, thanks to which we will protect the furniture from damage and the child from swallowing paint or wood. You will also need a sheet, preferably on an elastic band, although at the beginning it would be good if the toddler slept wrapped in a cone and put the bedding later. Oilcloth may also be useful, which will protect the mattress from getting wet.
