The Pros and Cons Of Changing Table

This is a very individual matter, it all depends on our financial capabilities, free space at home and expectations. It is important that the changing table is comfortable, stable and has safety certificates

Baby safety is essential. A changing table in the form of a bed cover is a changing solution at home. This cot cover is available in two sizes: 70 by 50 cm or 80 by 50 cm. The dimensions of the changing table are different, because the width of the beds is different: 60 or 70 cm. Having a changing table with rounded sides slightly higher than the middle part, we are sure that the baby will not slide off it. The changing table itself will not slide or slide because it has a fastening system. The extension has special handles that can be attached to the edges of the cot. Thanks to the changing table, we do not need to bend down to change the baby, because the toddler lies on the changing table at about the height of our belt. As a result, the back does not hurt us from bending down. 

It is also worth having a changing table for hygiene reasons. It is covered with an oilcloth, on which we put a diaper diaper. Oilcloth is not pleasant to the suckling body. So it's good to spread the diaper on it, buy a bed sheet or a cover for the equipment. They can be washed. There is a changing table, and next to the cot lies a set: wipes, nappies and cream. There are also extensions for the dresser or bathtub.

Which changing table should you choose

Is it better to bet on the cheapest changing mat or maybe a more modern, but more expensive, changing table for the dresser? These questions certainly accompany many a future mother. We know the answer, below we present the pros and cons of each model.

The changing table is a basic element of every layette for the newborn, because it improves the daily care of the infant. It is not particularly necessary, but changing diapers several times a day, it turns out to be extremely useful. In addition, the smaller the child is, the more often he can surprise us by changing his clothes when wetting his and my mother's clothes. So it is good to have a changing table in this situation, which will protect us from soiling the blanket, bedding or bed on which we are changing the baby.

Changing pad

This type of changing table is above all a cheap solution, very often chosen by mothers. A changing table for a cot is a rigid cover attached to the cot. It is easy to use and does not take up much space. It creates a place where, without bending down, while relieving our spine, we can change the diaper of a child, which is a great solution, among others in the case of mothers giving birth by caesarean section.

Changing Table with Dresser

This changing table looks the same as a changing table, with the difference that it is connected to the dresser. Mostly future parents are still planning to buy an additional piece of furniture for newborn things, so this type is a practical solution. An additional advantage is the ability to remove the changing table from the dresser when the baby grows up and use it like a normal piece of furniture.

The disadvantage of a chest of drawers with a changing table is its price, which is several hundred zlotys. It is definitely better to buy a chest of drawers and a changing table separately. In addition, just like the previous type of changing table, this one will also serve us only for a few months, and the child will quickly grow out of it. 

Changing mat - the cheapest solution

The changing mat is an extremely convenient and practical solution. It is suitable for washing in a washing machine and we can take it with us everywhere, just roll it up and put it in the bag. Great for changing a baby when it grows out of the changing tables. And it has a very low price! Her only drawback is the possibility of changing the baby only on the bed, which is certainly less comfortable and friendly to the spine and problematic for mothers after cesarean section during scar healing.
